Text
When a petition is filed under section419.16, the governing body of the city shall cause the question to be submitted to the voters at the first following general municipal election. The commission is abolished if two-thirds of the votes cast in the election are in favor of the abolishment, and the status of the police department and all of its employees shall thereafter be the same as if the commission had not been created.
