Text
Subdivision 1.Unanimous board or majority election.
Any sheriff's civil service commission created pursuant to the provisions of sections387.31to387.45may be discontinued and abolished by either of the following methods: by a resolution adopted by the county board on a unanimous vote a certified copy of which shall be filed in the office of the county auditor, or upon obtaining the approval of a majority of the electors voting on the question of abolishing the civil service system. The election shall be initiated by resolution adopted by a majority vote of the county board or by a petition signed by ten percent of the number of legal voters voting at the last general county election. The resolution or petition shall be filed with the county auditor.
