Subdivision 1.Authority. The county attorney of St. Louis County shall have authority to appoint, with the approval of the county board, a special investigator whose compensation shall be set by the county board and who shall be allowed necessary expenses and mileage incurred in connection with the employment as investigator. Subd. 2.Salary. The local social services agency is authorized to pay from welfare funds, the proportionate share of the salary and expenses incurred on local social services agency matters as determined by the county attorney. Subd. 3.Validation. The appointment heretofore made of an investigator on the staff of the St. Louis county attorney, and the payment of compensation and expenses as approved by the county board is hereby validated and declared to be legal.
