Text

Subdivision 1.Establishment. The commissioner of public safety shall establish a criminal justice data communications network that will provide secure access to systems and services available from or through the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension may approve additional criminal justice uses by authorized agencies to access necessary systems or services not from or through the bureau. The commissioner of public safety is authorized to lease or purchase facilities and equipment as may be necessary to establish and maintain the data communications network. Subd. 2.Criminal justice agency defined. For the purposes of sections299C.46and299C.48, "criminal justice agency" means an agency of the state or a political subdivision or the federal government charged
