Subdivision 1.Grant program established. The commissioner shall award grants to licensed or certified mental health providers that meet the criteria in subdivision 2 to fund supervision of or preceptorships for students, interns, and clinical trainees who are working toward becoming mental health professionals; to subsidize the costs of licensing applications and examination fees for clinical trainees; and to fund training for workers to become supervisors. For purposes of this section, an intern may include an individual who is working toward an undergraduate degree in the behavioral sciences or related field at an accredited educational institution. Subd. 2.Eligible providers. In order to be eligible for a grant under this section, a mental health provider must:
