Text
Subdivision 1.Requirement. No railroad locomotive may be operated without a speedometer or speed recorder functioning correctly within three miles per hour and within the view of the engineer or operator of the locomotive. Subd.
2.MS 2022 [Repealed,2023 c 25 s 190]
Subd. 3.Yard switching service.
Locomotives operated or used exclusively within designated yard limits in switching service need not be equipped in accordance with this section.
Subd. 4.Failure of required equipment.
If the required equipment fails after a locomotive has commenced to move in service, the railroad operating that locomotive is not in violation of this section and section219.661if the defect is corrected at the next initial terminal, as defined in section219.551, subdivision 2, where regular maintenance forces
