Subdivision 1.Endorsement; fee; account; appropriation.

(a)Before being issued or renewing a class C, class B, or class A driver's license with a hazardous materials endorsement, an applicant must comply with the federal regulations incorporated in this section.
(b)The commissioner may charge the applicant a fee of up to $100 to cover the department's actual costs of conducting the required background check of persons applying for a Minnesota driver's license with a hazardous materials endorsement. The proceeds of the fee must be deposited in an account in the special revenue fund. Money in the account is annually appropriated to the commissioner to pay the actual costs associated with conducting the required background checks. Subd. 2.Adoption of federal regulations.
