In addition to any authority granted under section171.3215, the commissioner may cancel a school bus driver's endorsement on a driver's license of any person if the commissioner determines that the person has (1) been convicted of a gross misdemeanor that the commissioner determines shows evidence that the person represents a risk to public safety, or (2) been convicted of a series of violations of law that the commissioner determines shows evidence that the person represents a risk to public safety. Upon canceling the offender's school bus driver's endorsement, the commissioner shall immediately notify the offender of the cancellation in writing, by depositing in the United States post office a notice, with postage prepaid, to the offender addressed to the offender's last known address.
