Subdivision 1.Definitions.

(a)For purposes of this section, the following terms have the meanings given.
(b)"Licensed peace officer" means a law enforcement officer licensed under sections626.84to626.863, who holds a certificate under section299D.085, and who may operate an authorized emergency vehicle and direct and control traffic and require traffic to yield to an overdimensional load.
(c)"Escort driver" means an individual who holds a certificate under section299D.085and is authorized to control and direct traffic as a flagger during the movement of an overdimensional load following the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards as defined by the Federal Highway Administration and section169.06, subdivision 4.
(d)"Flagger" means a person who actively controls the flow of
