Subdivision 1.Application for certificate of title.

(a)Except as provided in section168A.03, every owner of a vehicle which is in this state and for which no currently effective certificate of title has been issued in this state must apply to the department for a certificate of title of the vehicle, pursuant to rules adopted by the department under section168A.24, subdivision 2, clause (3).

(b)A decommissioned military vehicle that (1) was also manufactured and sold as a comparable civilian vehicle, and (2) has the same size dimensions and vehicle weight as the comparable civilian vehicle, is eligible for a certificate of title under this chapter. Subdivision 1.Application for certificate of title.
(a) Except as provided in section168A.03, every owner of a vehicle which is in this state and for which no currently effective certificate of title has been issued in this state must apply to the department for a certificate of title of the vehicle, pursuant to rules adopted by the department under section168A.24, subdivision 2, clause (3).

Subd. 2.Vehicle registration without title.
The department shall not register or renew the registration of a vehicle for which a certificate of title is required unless a certificate of title has been issued to the owner, an application therefor has been delivered to and approved by the department, or the vehicle has a Minnesota certificate of title and is being held for resale by a dealer under section168A.11.

Subd. 3.Title certificate for manufactured home.
Except as provided in section168A.1412, a certificate of title is required for a manufactured home. In every certificate of title issued for a manufactured home, the department shall insert the following notice: THIS TITLE DESCRIBES A MANUFACTURED HOME - NOT A MOTOR VEHICLE.
