Text

(a)A minor who is age 16 or older may give effective consent for nonresidential mental health services, and the consent of no other person is required. For purposes of this section, "nonresidential mental health services" means outpatient services as defined in section245.4871, subdivision 29, provided to a minor who is not residing in a hospital, inpatient unit, or licensed residential treatment facility or program.
(b)This section does not preclude a minor from providing effective consent for mental health or other health services according to the authority in section144.344or other applicable law.
