Subdivision 1.General. The Social Security numbers of individuals, whether provided in whole or in part, collected or maintained by a government entity are private data on individuals, except to the extent that access to the Social Security number is specifically authorized by law. Subd. 2.County recorder or registrar of titles. Subdivision 1 does not apply to Social Security numbers that appear in documents or records filed or recorded with the county recorder or registrar of titles, other than documents filed under section600.23. Subd. 3.Social Security number; prohibited on face of mailings. A government entity must not:
