The Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Compact is enacted into law and entered into with all jurisdictions legally joining therein in the form substantially as follows: ARTICLE I. POLICY AND PURPOSE There is created the Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Compact. The states party to this compact recognize that the Congress of the United States, by enacting the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Policy Act (United States Code, title 42, sections 2021b to 2021j), as amended through December 31, 1985, has provided for and encouraged the development of low-level radioactive waste compacts as a tool for disposing of such waste.
