FAILURE TO KEEP UP REQUIRED INDEXES (EXCERPT) Act 158 of 1887 565.531 Index; failure to keep up; forfeiture. Sec.
1.That every register of deeds who shall neglect or refuse to keep up such indexes as are required by law shall forfeit the sum of 10 dollars for each and every such neglect or refusal, which may be recovered in an action of debt before any court of competent jurisdiction.
