TRANSPORTATION OF MIGRANT AGRICULTURAL WORKERS (EXCERPT) Act 288 of 1965 286.601 Transportation of migrant agricultural workers; minimum safety standards, rules and regulations. Sec.

1.The department of commerce, public service commission division, shall adopt rules and regulations on or before July 1, 1966 in accordance with the provisions of Act No. 88 of the Public Acts of 1943, as amended, being sections 24.71 to 24.80 of the Compiled Laws of 1948, and subject to Act No. 197 of the Public Acts of 1952, as amended, being sections 24.101 to 24.110 of the Compiled Laws of 1948, to protect the health and safety of migrant workers proceeding to or returning from employment in agriculture in any motor vehicle carrier. The rules and regulations shall specify the minimum safety and other requirements for motor vehicles, parts, accessories, equipment and safety devices thereon and for health, language, driving skill, age and other requirements for operators of motor vehicles which transport migrant workers and which are covered by the regulations. The rules may also specify other minimum safety requirements for transportation of migrant workers to or from agricultural employment. The department may, by rule, require the additional licensing of persons authorized to operate motor vehicles used to transport migrant agricultural workers which otherwise are subject to the regulations promulgated pursuant to this act. There shall be no fee for such license.
