§ 35-A §4372 — Definitions

As used in this subchapter, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the following meanings.
1.
Construction.
"Construction" means the installation of permanent equipment or structures.
2.
High-level radioactive waste.
"High-level radioactive waste" means the highly radioactive material resulting from the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel, including liquid waste produced directly in reprocessing and any solid material derived from that liquid waste that contains fission products in sufficient concentrations; and other highly radioactive material that the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, consistent with existing law, determines by rule to require permanent isolations.
3.
Nuclear power plant.
"Nuclear power plant" means a nuclear fission thermal power plant.
4.
Technology or means for the disposal of high-level nuclear waste.
"Technology or means for the disposal of high-level nuclear waste" means a method for the permanent and terminal disposal of high-level nuclear waste. It does not necessarily require that facilities for the application of such technology and means be available at the time the commission makes its findings. This disposition does not necessarily preclude the possibility of an approved process for retrieval of such waste.
