Me. Rev. Stat. tit. 35-A, § 35-A §4301 (2026).
Text
1.Investment in nuclear power plants.
The Legislature finds that construction of a nuclear power plant is a major financial investment, which will have consequences for consumers for years to come.
2.Costs.
The Legislature finds that there are many uncertain future costs associated with nuclear power plants, including the costs of low-level and high-level waste disposal, decommissioning and long-term care. These costs will be borne by the consumers and reductions in these costs will serve to benefit consumers.
3.Citizen participation.
The purpose of this subchapter is to provide for citizen participation in any decision to construct a nuclear power plant within the State.
