Motorcycle registration plates must bear the words "Ride Safe." Motorcycle registration plates issued prior to January 1, 1998 may be replaced, upon a registrant's request, by plates issued under this section. The registrant shall surrender the original plates and pay a one-time $5 fee for the replacement plates. Motorcycle plates issued under sections 457, 515‑B, 517 and 523 are exempt from this section.
