Text
1.Loss of registration plates.
If a registration plate is lost or the number becomes mutilated or illegible, the owner or person in control of the vehicle shall immediately place a temporary substitute number plate bearing the registration number on the vehicle.
2.Conformity with registration plate required.
A temporary plate must conform to the registration plate and be displayed as nearly as possible as a regular registration plate.
3.Report.
Within 24 hours after loss or mutilation of registration plates, a person shall notify the Secretary of State and apply for new registration plates.
4.Reissue.
If satisfied as to the truth of the facts stated in the application, the Secretary of State shall supply new registration plates on payment of a fee of $5 for each plate.
