§ 27 §34 — Library development
The Department of Education shall maintain a school library media section in cooperation with the Maine State Library that must carry on the following activities:
1.Media center standards.
Recommending school library media center standards and evaluation of programs;
2.Certification of media professionals.
Assisting in the certification and recertification of school library media professionals;
3.Project review.
Reviewing state funded school library media center construction and renovation projects;
4.Expenditures for school library media programs.
Advising the Commissioner of Education on the expenditure of state and federal grants for school library media programs;
5.School approval.
