Text
1.Rules.
The Secretary of State and the Attorney General together may adopt rules governing approval of voting machines under section 813 and electronic tabulating systems under section 844. The Secretary of State may adopt rules requiring independent testing of voting machines and electronic tabulating systems in use or proposed for use in the State and indicating which voting machines and electronic tabulating systems are approved for use by municipalities.
2.Use of approved voting machines and systems.
Voting machines and systems approved and recommended pursuant to rules adopted under subsection 1 may be used by any municipality in a state election. Voting machines and electronic tabulating systems that have not been approved for use may not be used by any municipality.
