§ 12 §3 — Definitions
Maine·Title 12 CONSERVATION·Part 1 SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION·Ch. 1 SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICTS
Wherever used or referred to in this chapter, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context, the following words shall have the following meanings.
1.Commission.

Department.
"Department" means the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.
2.District or soil and water conservation district.
"District" or "soil and water conservation district" means an agency of the State, and a body corporate and politic, organized in accordance with this chapter, for the purposes, with the powers, and subject to the restrictions set forth.
3.Due notice.
"Due notice" means notice published at least twice, with an interval of 6 days, in a newspaper or other publication of general circulation within the appropriate area, as well as notice through the United States mail, in th
