Text
Section 296. A town and the city council of a city shall annually choose one or more measures of wood and bark, who shall be sworn to the faithful performance of their duties and shall hold office during the year and until others are chosen and qualified in their stead. A town, by vote fixing the number to be chosen, may delegate the appointment of such measurers to the selectmen.
