Section 41. The commission, or the director if so designated by it, may hold investigations or hearings relative to matters covered by any provision of sections thirty-five to fifty-two, inclusive, or of any order, rule or regulation of the commission, and shall hold investigations relative to any accident involving personal injury occurring in connection with aeronautics within the commonwealth.The commission shall report to the civil aeronautics board aeronautical accidents within the commonwealth, and so far as possible shall preserve, protect and prevent the removal of the component parts of any aircraft involved in any such accident being investigated by it.
