Section 17. A protective services agency is authorized:

(1)to receive and investigate reports of abuse;[ Clause (2) effective until January 9, 2025. For text effective January 9, 2025, see below.]
(2)to furnish protective services to an elderly person with his or her consent;[ Clause (2) as amended by 2024, 392, Secs. 68 and 69 effective January 9, 2025. For text effective until January 9, 2025, see above.]
(2)to furnish protective services to an older adult with the elderly person's consent;
(3)to petition the court for appointment of a conservator or guardian or for issuance of an emergency order for protective services;[ Clause (4) effective until January 9, 2025. For text effective January 9, 2025, see below.]
