Section 443/4. Notwithstanding chapter 151B, a private, nonpublic employer may provide a preference in promoting or hiring to:

(i)a veteran;
(ii)the spouse of an honorably discharged veteran who the United States Department of Veterans Affairs determines to be 100 per cent disabled as a result of enemy action or a service-connected accident; or (iii) the surviving spouse of a veteran.
