§121. Appointment of ex officio notaries; powers The secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development and the state director of the Department of Veterans' Affairs may designate as ex officio notaries public a sufficient number of employees of their departments and they may, without charge or other compensation, administer oaths, take acknowledgments, and perform all other duties which any notary public is authorized by law to perform. However, their authority is limited to acts and instruments to which the department, the secretary, or the state director is a party and to the administration of oaths, affidavits, and other documents concerning any matter in which the department is interested. The cost of each notarial seal shall be paid by the department. Amended by Acts 1958,
