A. The purpose of this Section is to establish a program to curb the theft of commercial motor vehicle license plates for commercial fleet vehicles. B.

(1)In addition to the provisions of this Chapter authorizing the issuance of commercial license plates, the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall establish a program authorizing the issuance of apportioned license plates containing the registered trademark or copyrighted logo of a company. The license plates shall be restricted to trucks, tandem trucks, truck-tractors, semitrailers, or trailers, as provided in R.S. 47:462, that are owned and operated by a company for a commercial use, provided that such vehicles are part of a fleet of twenty-five or more vehicles.
