§177. Breeder awards
Each licensee authorized to conduct race meets shall pay the equivalent of ten percent
of the total purse of each race earned by accredited Louisiana bred horses. The sum shall be
paid by the licensee within thirty days after the close of the race meeting to the respective
breeders of the first, second, and third place winners of such races as a breeder's award. The
provisions of this Section shall not apply to races written exclusively for accredited
Louisiana bred horses which shall be paid a breeder's award by the Louisiana State Racing
Commission out of funds provided for this purpose pursuant to the provisions of R.S.
4:165(A).
