§581. Unlawful practice; exemptions A. No person shall engage in the practice of cosmetology without obtaining a current certificate of registration for the appropriate area of practice under the provisions of this Chapter. B. The following persons are exempt from the provisions of this Chapter while in the proper discharge of their professional duties in a facility not licensed by the board:

(1)Persons authorized by law to practice medicine or surgery.
(2)Commissioned medical or surgical officers in the armed forces of the United States or within the Veterans Administration.
(3)Persons licensed by the Louisiana Board of Barber Examiners.
(4)Employees of hospitals, nursing homes, or other health care facilities engaged in the exercise of their professions in a facility not licensed by
