§140.50.31. Non-conforming uses
A.The lawful use of a building or premises exactly as such use existed at the time
of the enactment of any regulation affecting it may be continued although such use does not
conform with the provisions of such regulation. The town council or the police jury, as
appropriate, may provide for the termination of non-conforming uses either by specifying the
period or periods within which they shall be required to cease or by providing a formula or
formulas whereby the compulsory termination of a non-conforming use shall be so fixed as
to allow a reasonable period for the recovery or amortization of the investment in the non-conformance or with adequate compensation by a court of competent jurisdiction.
