Text

Notwithstanding any law, regulation, or definition to the contrary, a domestic nonprofit mutual association, as defined in this Section, is deemed to be an insurer for the purposes of all surplus requirements, policy reserve requirements, and liquidation, conservation, rehabilitation, and receivership proceedings all as defined and set out in this Title. For purposes of this Section, a domestic nonprofit mutual association shall include a domestic nonprofit mutual association which is engaged exclusively in the business of furnishing hospital service, medical, or surgical benefits, or any similar entity. NOTE: Former R.S. 22:124 redesignated as R.S. 22:116 by Acts 2008, No. 415, §1, eff. Jan. 1, 2009.
