A.Time served as a member of the armed forces of the United States up to but not in excess of three years by any member of the police pension fund employed on or prior to December 31, 1967, who has been an officer, member, or employee of the police department of the city of New Orleans for at least sixteen years, whether before or after becoming an officer, member, or employee of said police department, or both, shall constitute service credit in the police department as used in this Subpart.
