§ 8-2,158 — Driver's license, instruction permit or non-driver's identification card emergency contact information; confidentiality; procedure

Kansas·Ch. 8 AUTOMOBILES AND OTHER VEHICLES·Art. 2 DRIVERS' LICENSES
(a)Not later than July 1, 2022, the division of vehicles shall maintain in its files a record of the name, address and telephone number of each individual that the holder of a valid driver's license, instruction permit or non-driver's identification card, as provided in K.S.A. 8-1324, and amendments thereto, authorizes to be contacted in the event that the holder is injured or dies in a vehicular accident or another emergency situation.
(b)(1) A record maintained by the division under subsection (a) shall be confidential and shall not be subject to the provisions of the Kansas open records act, K.S.A. 45-215 et seq., and amendments thereto. The provisions of this subsection shall expire on July 1, 2026, unless the legislature reviews and reenacts this provision pursuant to K.S.A. 45-229,
