Except as provided in K.S.A. 8-143k, the owner of any duly registered and licensed farm truck in this state, engaged in the hauling of grain as provided by subsection (h) of K.S.A. 66-1,109, and amendments thereto, or chopped forage, and desiring to operate in intrastate commerce in this state for a temporary period only, in lieu of payment of the annual license fee, may register such farm truck and obtain a thirty-day license authorizing operation on the highways of this state for a period of only 30 days from the date of issuance of such license. The fee for such license shall be $26, on January 1, 2013, $36, on January 1, 2014, $46.
