(a)Agents who become members of the Kansas police and firemen's retirement system shall be subject to all of the provisions of K.S.A. 74-4951 to 74-4970, inclusive, and amendments thereto, except as is otherwise provided in this act.
(b)Prior to January 1, 1994, each agent, other than the director of the Kansas bureau of investigation, who is a member of the Kansas police and firemen's retirement system and who has reached the age of 65 years must file application for retirement with the board and if such agent refuses or neglects to do so, the board shall consider the application as having been filed on the 65th birthday of that agent. Any agent so retired shall receive a retirement benefit determined in accordance with the provisions of subsection (1) of K.S.A. 74-4958, on the basis of
