(a)There is hereby created a state banking board which shall be composed of nine members. Six members of the board shall be bankers with not less than five years' actual banking experience in a state bank in this state and three shall represent the public interest in the regulation, operation and control of state banks and trust companies. All members representing the public interest shall be selected from the state at large. No nonbanker member shall concurrently serve as an officer or director in any state or national bank or trust company wherever located. One of the nine members shall be elected annually as chairperson of the board. The board shall be appointed by the governor. Persons appointed to the board shall be subject to confirmation by the senate as provided in K.S.A. 75-4315b
