As used in this act:
(a)"Kansas academy of mathematics and science" or "KAMS" means:
(1)An accelerated residential, or on-line distance learning program for high school-age pupils who are academically talented in science and mathematics; and (2) a rigorous, two-year program of college coursework tailored to individual abilities and taught by the faculty of a postsecondary educational institution designated by the board. The purpose of KAMS is to provide an opportunity for academically talented pupils to work in a community of peers and to earn simultaneously college credits and a high school diploma.
