§ 72-3127 — Definitions

Kansas·Ch. 72 SCHOOLS·Art. 31 SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

As used in K.S.A. 72-3122 through 72-3125, and amendments thereto, and K.S.A. 2024 Supp. 72-3126 and 72-3128, and amendments thereto:

(a)"Homeless child" means a child who lacks a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence and whose primary nighttime residence is:
(1)A supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to provide temporary living accommodations, including welfare hotels, congregate shelters and transitional housing for the mentally ill;
(2)an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized; or
(3)a public or private place not designed for, or ordinarily used as, a regular sleeping accommodation for humans.
(b)"Nonresident student" means a child of school age pursuant to K.S.A. 72-3118, and amendments theret
