(a)Except as otherwise provided by K.S.A. 65-1701b, and amendments thereto, each applicant for a license to practice embalming in this state, in order to be eligible for examination, shall be required to show to the satisfaction of the state board of mortuary arts that:
(1)Prior to July 1, 1991, the applicant:
(A)Successfully completed courses in a community college, college or university accumulating at least 60 semester hours; and (B) graduated from a school of mortuary science approved by the board that offers a 12-month course in mortuary science with at least 30 semester hours in mortuary science; or
(2)on and after July 1, 1991, the applicant has graduated from a community college, college or university with at least an AA degree in mortuary science approved by the board.
