§ 40-12a01 — Definitions
Kansas·Ch. 40 INSURANCE·Art. 12a MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANIES ORGANIZED TO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER LIABILITY INSURANCE
As used in this act:
(a)"Health care provider" means any person licensed to practice any branch of the healing arts by the state board of healing arts or any hospital licensed under the provisions of K.S.A. 65-425 et seq., and amendments thereto, or a private psychiatric hospital authorized under K.S.A. 39-2001 et seq., and amendments thereto;
(b)"person" means an individual, corporation, partnership, association, joint stock company, trust, unincorporated organization or any similar entity;
(c)"affiliate" means a person that directly or indirectly, through one or more intermediaries, employs, controls or is controlled by, or is under common control with a health care provider;
(d)"commissioner" means the commissioner of insurance; and
