Not later than 10 days after becoming a candidate, every candidate shall appoint a treasurer or in lieu thereof shall appoint a candidate committee. The treasurer so appointed may be the candidate making such appointment. No candidate shall appoint more than one candidate committee to exist at the same time. If a candidate appoints a candidate committee, such candidate shall appoint a chairperson and a treasurer thereof, and the treasurer so appointed may be the candidate. No person who is registered as a lobbyist in accordance with K.S.A. 46-265, and amendments thereto, shall be eligible for appointment as treasurer for any candidate or candidate committee.
