An elector who was a person in federal service within the meaning of K.S.A. 25-1214, and amendments thereto, and whose status in such federal service has been terminated by discharge from the armed forces, by separation from the merchant marine, or by termination of service or employment outside the territorial limits of the United States, too late to enable such person to register at the time when and place where registration is required, shall be entitled to register for the purpose of voting only at the next ensuing election after such discharge, separation, or termination of employment, as herein provided.
