5.
(a)This section applies to a motor vehicle
that is purchased for scrap, sale of parts, shredding, compacting, or any
other type of dismantling or destruction.
(b)An automotive salvage recycler must:
(1)report the purchase of a motor vehicle to the National Motor
Vehicle Title Information System not later than seventy-two (72)
hours after the motor vehicle is purchased; and
(2)provide to the seller a valid National Motor Vehicle Title
Information System report identification number.
