Text

(a)If a license plate or other proof of registration is stolen, the person in whose name the license plate or other proof of registration was issued shall notify:
(1)the Indiana law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction where the theft occurred; or
(2)the law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over the address listed on the registration for the vehicle for which the license plate or other proof of registration was issued; that the original license plate or other proof of registration has been stolen.
(b)A person may apply to the bureau to replace a license plate or other proof of registration that is lost, stolen, destroyed, or damaged. The bureau shall issue a duplicate or replacement license plate or other proof of registration after the person does the following:
