Text

(a)A certificate of title may not be issued for a manufactured or privately assembled vehicle that does not have a special identification number stamped on the vehicle or permanently attached to the vehicle until the person that owns the vehicle has:
(1)an inspection performed under IC 9-17-2-12;
(2)obtained from the bureau a special identification number designated by the bureau; and
(3)stamped or permanently attached the special identification number in a conspicuous place on the frame of the vehicle.
(b)A special identification number obtained from the bureau under subsection (a) for a manufactured or mobile home must be the same identification number used on the certificate of title for the manufactured or mobile home. [Pre-1991 Recodification Citation: 9-1-2-1(b) part.]
