The commissioner may appoint an individual to serve as deputy commissioner of the department of local government finance. However, the appointment must be approved by the governor. A deputy commissioner shall subscribe to an oath to faithfully discharge the duties assigned to the deputy commissioner either by law or by the commissioner.
