§ 5-20-2-1 — Legislative findings; declaration of purpose
Legislative Findings and Declaration of Purpose.
It is hereby found and declared that in this state there is a shortage of
decent, safe and sanitary housing that most people can afford; that the
shortage of such housing is a threat to the health, safety, morals and
welfare of Indiana residents and is not transitory and self-curing; that
the cost of financing such housing is a major and substantial factor
affecting the supply and cost of decent, safe and sanitary housing built
by private enterprise; that the purpose of this chapter is to provide a
means of lowering the cost of financing ownership by Indiana residents
of decent, safe and sanitary housing; that such financing of residential
ownership will (a) provide for and promote the public health, safety,
