Text
(a)In determining the amount of the award,
the division shall determine whether the victim contributed to the
infliction of the victim's injury or death.
(b)If the division finds that the victim contributed to the infliction
of the victim's injury or death, the division may deny an award.
(c)If the division further finds that the victim's contributory conduct
was solely attributable to an effort to:
(1)prevent a crime from occurring; or
(2)apprehend a person who committed a crime;
in the victim's presence, the victim's contributory conduct does not
render the victim ineligible for compensation.
