Text
(a)Police officers appointed under this chapter
have all necessary law enforcement powers, including:
(1)the power to arrest, without process, all persons who within
the police officer's view commit any felony or misdemeanor;
(2)all common law and statutory powers, privileges, and
immunities of sheriffs, except those specifically forbidden by the
board; and
(3)the power to serve civil process to the extent authorized by the
board.
(b)Police officers appointed under this chapter shall:
(1)preserve the peace, maintain order, and prevent the unlawful
use of force or violence or other unlawful conduct on property
owned or operated by the board;
(2)protect all persons and property located on property owned or
operated by the board from injury, harm, or damage;
